History

The District, located in Harris County, Texas, is a governmental agency and a political subdivision of the State of Texas. The District was created by the Texas Water Commission, predecessor to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (the “Commission” or the “TCEQ”), by an order dated August 15, 1984 pursuant to Article XVI, Section 59, Texas Constitution, and operates pursuant to Chapters 49 and 54, Texas Water Code and other general statutes of Texas applicable to municipal utility districts. The District, which lies wholly within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston, is subject to the continuing supervisory jurisdiction of the Commission. The District contains approximately 464 acres.

The District is located in northwest Harris County approximately 22 miles northwest of downtown Houston. The District is located approximately 7 miles north of Interstate 10 and approximately 2 miles west of State Highway 6. The District is located entirely within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston and within the boundaries of Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. The District is party to a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the City of Houston.
